The Casa Vicens is a private residence designed by Antoni Gaudi in 1883-1889. It is located at 24 Carrer de les Carolines. The house exhibits the arabic influence of the Moors (Muslims from northern Africa that occupied Spain).

La Sagrada Familia is a Roman Catholic church. The construction of the church began in 1882, with Gaudi as the original designer. Construction is still in progress.

The Casa Batlló is a part of the Illa/Manzana de la Discordia, or Block of Dissension (Because of the presence of 3 different architectural styles in close proximity). The builing is also called "The House of Bones" because of the skeletal look it has.




Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926)

Antoni Gaudí was born in Reus in Catalonia. He was exposed to nature and construction at a young age, as both his parents were metalsmiths. He studied arquitecture at La Escola Tecnica Superior d'Arquitectura in Barcelona and began immediately working in Barcelona and around Catalonia. Gaudí was a leader of the "Modernisme" movement in Spanish architecture.
